Here is just a flavour of what some of our participants thought of the Sean Kelly Tour 2011:

‘I was worried that there might no be enough food on the cycle, but with two food stops, endless tea and water (and quite a lot of bananas and flapjacks) I am now going to have to go on a diet after that ride. Thanks guys for making it a great day and for wonderful organisation. Thanks marshalls for stopping traffic where appropriate, and thanks to the car drivers in the area for sensible driving.  And Thanks Sean for turning up and meeting everyone on the day’. Alan Moran
Start of 90km cycle 2011

‘Hi I would just like to say thanks for a fantastic event yesterday . I really enjoyed it, also it was great to see such strong community spirit with what looked like half the county helping out. You should all be very proud of yourselves ...’ Robert West

‘Many thanks on behalf of Carrigdhoun Cycling Club it was a great day for all the club members who did the 160km and 90km. As always the routes were amazing the food stops great and the views out of this world,’ Conor Hanlon

‘I took part in the 90k Kelly Coast cycle last week end...... This is my second year doing it and I was delighted with my improvement from last year. I did not have pleasant memories of that hill in Bunmahon from last year, I was dreading it. I was delighted with myself as I climbed it at a pretty good pace and was not wrecked after it. All in all the whole route was great. I can only imagine the amount of work that is involved in organising and running such a spectacular event, I know all of us appreciated it. The atmosphere is electric from the countdown at the start of the cycle to the buzz of crossing the finish line, with all the support in between from the stewards encouraging us and being so helpful, to the bystanders cheering and waving. I look forward to next year’s event already. Thanks again for a great event and wishing you continued success in the coming years’ Nollaig O’Connor

‘Really enjoyed the event. Great organistation, great community involvment, great grub. A fitting event to carry the great mans name.’ John Twomey

‘Just to say thank you to everyone who helped out and organised the Sean Kelly 2011 Tour.  It was the best ever!!.......  The amount of people who lined the route and cheered the cyclists on was unbelievable. The food and water stops were great and well planned.  Children and adults holding out water and bananas for us.  The food in Tramore and Dungarvan was great, and our children are still raving about the food in Cappoquin! Thanks again, well done to all.’ Mary, Bill Cummins and family

‘I thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well done to all who helped in its organising. The road surfaces were the best of all the cycles to date ......Once again, thank you for all your help and I'll see you next year!’ Ronan Gallagher

‘I am writing to thank you for a wonderful experience, event, spectacle and memory of the Sean Kelly cycle 2011.

I decided this year to try my legs at the illusive 90km challenge! I doubted my ability as well as my sanity right up to the night before but then decided to give it a go! .............. The atmosphere was fantastic from the point of picking up registration packs to the last freewheel over the finish line. I was struck by the camaraderie of fellow cyclists of all shapes and sizes as well as the good nature of supporters along the way. Officials, martials and volunteers at water and food stops were so supportive and encouraging that it gave me a lift at times when I needed a bit of a push (you know those hills I’m talking about!) The men and women who looked after us at the food stop in Tramore were run off their feet trying to keep everybody fed. I was never so glad to see a ham sandwich in my life!! Despite the massive numbers and mounting pressure to keep the sandwich and pasta supplies coming they were still serving with a smile and encouraging words for the journey ahead. The scenery along the whole route was spectacular and it made me very proud to see my county from the saddle of my newfound mode of transport! Mile, mile buiochas do ghach duine a ghlac páirt sa lá seo. Tá me ag tnu leis aris an bhliain seo chughainn!’ Le gach dea-ghui, Grainne Ni Fhoghlu

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to write or e-mail such kind words.
